About

Gopal’s of Soho brings traditional Indian cooking to one of London’s liveliest neighbourhoods, with a family-run approach and a menu that spans regional specialities alongside familiar favourites. Tucked away on Bateman Street in the heart of Soho, its central location makes it an easy choice for everything from a casual lunch or dinner with friends to a meal before heading out in the West End.

Inside, the restaurant keeps things relatively simple and understated. White tablecloths and rattan-style dining chairs are paired with Indian-inspired artwork, while large floor-to-ceiling windows across the front bring plenty of natural daylight into the dining room, giving the space a light and relaxed feel during the day.

Food is rooted in the family’s Indian heritage, with fresh ingredients and traditional cooking methods passed down through generations. Start with poppadoms and chutneys, crisp onion bhajis or samosa chaat, alongside dishes such as fish pakora and chilli paneer.

The main menu covers plenty of ground, taking inspiration from different regions of India. Curries include Goan chicken masala, Kerala chicken curry and prawn Chettinadu, while the tandoori selection features dishes such as marinated lamb chops. House specialities include fish masala, alongside a broader selection of seafood and plenty of chicken and lamb dishes.

Vegetarians are well catered for too, with choices including aloo gobi, Bombay aloo and mushroom bhaji. Those in the mood for a curry-house classic can opt for favourites such as bhuna, dhansak or korma, accompanied by basmati rice and a selection of freshly cooked Indian breads, including naan, chapatti and roti.

Drinks span wine, beer and spirits alongside soft drinks and hot drinks, with Indian masala tea available to finish the meal. Gopal’s of Soho is a halal restaurant, with vegetarian and vegan options available across the menu.
