Treat yourself to authentic Lebanese cuisine with a visit to Joseph's Brasserie, Kensington High Street. Since it opened in 2024, the team at Joseph’s Brasserie have worked tirelessly to ensure that timeless dishes and classic flavours, which have been loved for generations, are prepared to perfection. In fact, the menu here pays close attention to recipes passed down through the villages of Lebanon, so think fragrant grills, mezze and colourful plates.
Pop in for brunch and enjoy plates of shakshouka, eggs with soujouk, or balila. From the flatbread section, you can enjoy a manakeesh lahme b'ajeen or kafta. There’s also a brilliant selection of cold mezze, which includes hummus, muhammara, moussaka, and stuffed vine leaves. There's also mashed baked potato with garlic, fresh za'atar or basil, and a savory Middle Eastern favourite of mdardara – a blend of lentils, rice and caramelised onions.
From the hot mezze section, try chicken livers with garlic, sauteed in lemon or pomegranate molasses, succulent chicken wings, or golden fried Lebanese cheese rolls with a crispy pastry. There's also a sea bass fillet served on a bed of ratatouille with a sprinkle of pine kernels, lamb filled pastry pockets, and grilled halloumi sprinkled with toasted sesame.
Meanwhile, the main menu offers basha w asakro, which features dough balls filled with lamb mince, cooked in a creamy yoghurt sauce that's flavoured with garlic, mint and lemon; kafta cooked with soft potatoes in a tomato based sauce; and plump king prawns sauteed in a savoury tomato provencal-style sauce with coriander, garlic, green and red chillies, lemon juice and herbs. If you're sticking around for dessert try the traditional osmaliyye, featuring layers of crispy kataifi pastry filled with rich ashta cream, drizzled with fragrant rose water syrup and topped with pistachios.
