The first Jamie’s Italian to relaunch in the UK, the Leicester Square restaurant has been positioned as the flagship for the revived high street brand. With more than 30 restaurants across 15 countries, the TV chef has partnered with Brava Hospitality Group – best known for Prezzo Italian – to bring the concept back to UK diners.
The reboot puts a renewed emphasis on fresh pasta, quality ingredients and warm, generous hospitality. On the Jamie's Italian Leicester Square menu, guests can expect a mix of new dishes alongside returning fan-favourites like the famous cured meat planks, prawn linguine, and Gennaro’s Bolognese.
It joins Jamie Oliver Catherine Street, just around the corner near Covent Garden, but while the Catherine Street site offers an elegant, modern take on British nostalgia, Jamie’s Italian is designed to deliver accessible, high-quality dining with a more relaxed feel ideal for tourists, families and casual walk-ins.
For Oliver, Jamie’s Italian Leicester Square marks a triumphant return to the UK high street. In 2019, after his restaurant group entered administration, he was forced to close 22 Jamie’s Italian locations. This new chapter comes with a streamlined menu, a sharper focus on fresh pasta and a more contemporary approach to hospitality.
Speaking in a statement to the press, Oliver said: ‘As a chef, having the chance to return to the high street is incredibly important to me. In theory it’s not the easiest time to return but conversely, I think it’s the perfect time. I believe the mid-market needs excitement, surprise and delight and that’s exactly what I am planning on delivering.’
‘I think the public wants freshly made delicious food at a reasonable price with an award winning kids menu. Eating out is a treat but I believe it should offer value for money with higher welfare sourcing.
‘I will drive the menus, make sure the sourcing is right, the staff training and ensure the look and feel of the restaurant is brought to life in the right way. All the effort, time, love and attention will be the same as before.’
