Internationally acclaimed ramen master Ivan Orkin – star of Netflix’s Chef’s Table – brings his cult bowls to London with the opening of his first permanent UK restaurant. Following sell-out pop-ups, Ivan Ramen now has a home in Farringdon, offering an intimate 26-seat space where ramen lovers can savour the dishes that made Orkin a global name.
Orkin's remarkable story starts in Japan. He emigrated to Tokyo in the 1980s, learning Japanese and immersing himself fully in Japanese culture, all whilst dedicating himself to the art of great ramen. In 2007 he opened his first ramen shop in Tokyo's Setagawa ward, winning over critics and making Ivan Ramen one of the city's most talked about new ramen spots. Fast forward to 2025 and Ivan Ramen London is his third permanent site globally, joining his Tokyo and New York restaurants.
Expect signature favourites such as rich Tonkotsu, silky Chicken Paitan, and punchy Spicy Miso Ramen, alongside Ivan’s famous Kara-age Chicken. London diners are also treated to an exclusive creation: the Salt Beef Bao. Inspired by the classic East End bagel, this bao is stuffed with warm salt beef, pickled cucumber, and a fiery karashi mustard mayo – a playful nod to local flavours.
All dishes are available to enjoy in-house or via major delivery platforms, making it easier than ever to experience Ivan’s celebrated cooking. With roots in Tokyo and New York, Ivan Ramen’s arrival in London marks a major moment for the capital’s thriving ramen scene.
The launch comes in partnership with Sessions, the UK’s leading growth platform for original food brands, and signals ambitious plans to expand across the country. For now, this cosy Farringdon spot promises an authentic taste of Ivan’s culinary journey – blending Japanese technique with bold, creative twists.
As Orkin himself says: “Tokyo, New York… and now London! What an incredible honour to share our food in three of the world’s most iconic cities.” For ramen fans, this is a must-visit destination – a small but mighty addition to London’s fast-moving dining landscape.
