Host St Ives is a restaurant, bar and pizza kitchen set in a beautifully restored former Victorian bank on Tregenna Hill in St Ives, a central location within easy walking distance of Tate St Ives, the harbour and local galleries. Housed in an 1899 building, the venue combines historical architecture, such as high ceilings, exposed brick and original woodwork, with contemporary fittings, Canadian maple flooring and vintage lighting to reflect both heritage and Cornish character.
The kitchen operates on a wood-fired oven and Japanese-style fire grill. The menu includes small and large plates, pizzas made from hand-stretched dough, steaks and fish dishes cooked on flame, alongside a popular Sunday roast.
Sample dishes include monkfish, braised lamb shoulder, beetroot preparations and small-plate fare such as salt-and-pepper squid, tiger prawns and rosemary fries. Pizzas feature both classic Margherita and inventive varieties like goat-cheese and prosciutto topped 'Point Break'.
The bar focuses on premium Cornish spirits, craft beers, an extensive wine list (available by the glass through Coravin), and a varied cocktail selection featuring local produce. It maintains a relaxed vibe with walk-in tables, cosy seating and live music on Friday evenings.
Service is casual yet attentive, welcoming families, complete with toys for children, as well as dogs. Host St Ives is open Wednesday to Sunday evenings, with earlier hours at weekends including a lunchtime service on Sundays to accommodate its roast offering.
It caters to various occasions, from casual drinks and bar snacks to wood-fired meals, intimate dinners, family gatherings, and celebratory or pre-theatre evenings. With a lively yet welcoming interior and a menu grounded in fire-cooked produce, it offers a distinctive dining experience by the Cornish coast.
