Perched above the Mount Shop in the charming courtyard of St Michael’s Mount, Harbour Loft is a stylish and serene spot offering a refined afternoon tea with panoramic views across the harbour and Mount’s Bay.
Situated on one of Cornwall’s most iconic tidal islands, the restaurant is accessible by foot across the causeway during low tide or by boat when the tide is high, making each visit a unique journey. The interiors are simple and elegant, featuring soft hues, wooden accents, and large windows that flood the room with natural light. The relaxed yet polished atmosphere makes Harbour Loft ideal for celebrating special occasions or simply indulging in a slow afternoon of Cornish hospitality.
Led by head chef Greg Milne, the Harbour Loft menu celebrates seasonal Cornish ingredients, many of which are grown or foraged directly on the island. The afternoon tea menu includes an assortment of elegant finger sandwiches, such as roasted gammon with wild garlic mustard and Atlantic prawn with lemon and nettle, alongside savoury bites like pickled mackerel on dulse crackers. Sweet items include rhubarb and pistachio financiers, pine and rose mousse cake and a delicately layered green tea, bergamot and chocolate dessert. Each tea is served with traditional scones, Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam, paired with unlimited Tregothnan tea or freshly brewed coffee.
To elevate the occasion, guests can add a glass of Polgoon Vineyard’s sparkling Seyval Blanc, a locally produced wine. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free menus are available, ensuring all dietary needs are accommodated.
The afternoon tea room is open Sunday to Friday and booking is highly recommended. Harbour Loft offers a blend of culinary excellence, tranquil setting and historical charm at the heart of St Michael’s Mount. It’s a perfect way to experience the magic of the island.
