You can either drop in from Brompton Road or use the main entrance on Cheval Place to reach this Knightsbridge outpost of a Nairobi-based Indian restaurant group. Swish trappings, rich, earthy colours and a wealthy, platinum-card vibe come with the territory (Harrods is close by), and diners can also watch the theatrical kitchen in full flow. The cooking leans towards top-end Punjabi cuisine, with the tandoor given plenty of work and many other dishes prepared and served in traditional ‘haandis’ (big-bellied, narrow-necked pots). Ginger-spiked lamb chops, rogan josh and murgh makhani are staples, but you can also trip your way through crispy fried cassava (mogo) with chillis, Goan fish masala or Chennai chicken (with coconut, mustard and curry leaves).
