Very much the epitome of 21st-century chic in suburban Cambridge, Hotel Felix occupies a seriously extended, bow-fronted Victorian villa with its own courtyard, cool grey-toned interiors and a
flagship brasserie-style restaurant called Graffiti in an ultra-modern extension overlooking the terrace and landscaped gardens. But there’s substance as well as style, in the shape of an ambitious
modern European menu with some unlikely twists. Traditionalists might go for gurnard bouillabaisse, roast halibut with spring vegetable fricassee or steak and chips, while more adventurous types
could be tempted by haunch of venison with kohlrabi fondant, rainbow chard and whisky sauce or spiced cod with roasted cauliflower, Israeli couscous and spiced chicken jus. Graffiti is also a good
call for afternoon tea, while lighter dishes are available in the hotel’s Café Bar. Free parking is a big bonus in gridlocked Cambridge.
