The first Scottish outpost from the luxurious Argentinian steakhouse group, you’ll find Gaucho Edinburgh by St Andrew Square, just a few minutes from Waverley Station. Right in the heart of the city, this New Town restaurant draws in the crowds thanks to its commitment to sourcing the best beef and wines from Argentina.
Inside, Gaudo Edinburgh is modern and spacious, with a cool, fresh atmosphere bolstered by sleek decor and elegant furniture. The colour palette and textures throughout offer subtle nods to modern Argentina and its landscapes. Think leaf print, walls, Art Deco accents, and rich hues that evoke rugged beauty and forested landscapes.
All steaks on the Gaucho Edinburgh menu come from free-range, grass-fed Aberdeen Angus herds reared in the Pampas region, while other produce comes from local growers and suppliers. The steak selection offers up tender, flame-grilled cuts like sirloin, ribeye, and fillet, all available in three weight sizes and served with chimichurri plus a choice of chips, mashed potato or salad. That’s not all, the menu also includes a range of marinated steaks, from a churrasco de lomo (spiral-cut filled) marinated in garlic, to the chipotle ancho (an oversize ribeye marinated in smoked chilli). If you’re struggling with the choice, there’s also a ‘Gaucho Sampler’ option to share, complete with sirloin, rump, ribeye and fillet.
Starters and snacks meanwhile, cover cheese and truffle croquettes, tuna tartare tacos, Argentinian prawn cocktail, and empanadas available with a range of fillings. If you’re not in the mood for steak, just choose between a good selection of mains, offering up the likes of salmon steak with puttanesca, grilled sea bass, and chicken Milanese. Then, round off the meal with a sweet dulce de leche dessert in cheesecake form, pancakes, sorbets and more.
