Four Boys in Rock celebrates the best of Cornish produce and scenery, offering a pasta-focused menu enjoyed alongside close-up views across the estuary.
The restaurant is run by four brothers local to the area, who have designed a menu emphasising locally sourced fish, and vegetables grown organically in Cornish farms. The menu changes regularly to reflect the seasons, which diners can discover through plates designed to share, or look to the concise specials blackboard for further discovery.
Four Boys’ unpretentious interior and large windows mean beautiful coastal views take centre stage. Dark wooden chairs are gathered around a counter stretching across the side of the restaurant, so every diner has an uninterrupted view of the attractive estuary. Glass doors merge indoor and outdoor seating areas, but the wall-to-wall windows allow plenty of scenery and light from any table.
The Four Boys menu kicks off with smaller plates, snacks and nibbles to share. These might include raw Porthilly oyster and mignonette, charcuterie, or simply a plate of pickles. Your meal may also start with something from the extensive two-page wine list, or alternatively the cocktail, beer and cider, and non-alcoholic options.
Larger plates, meanwhile, range from lamb ragu on toast with watercress and horseradish to seafood dishes like grilled hake with ribollita and aioli. There is a wide selection of pasta plates to order for the table, with dishes such as fettuccine with bluefin tuna puttanesca & wild oregano, or taglioni with crab, chilli and garlic.
For those with families, a children’s option offers either a simple pasta dish or fish and chips, so every appetite is catered for, whether you’re treating the family to a meal out or looking to make the most of local seafood during the school holidays.
As opening hours vary seasonally, it's best to check in with the restaurant directly to guarantee your table.
