Fold is a neighbourhood bistro and bottle shop in Stockport, offering all-day dining from breakfast through to dinner. A family-owned restaurant with two AA Rosettes, it combines a strong sense of community with seasonal sharing plates and a carefully curated wine list.
The kitchen at Fold Bistro is led by Jake Rossington, whose menus centre on British ingredients with multicultural influences and a touch of North West nostalgia. Produce is responsibly sourced, with an emphasis on supporting local suppliers.
Inside, the space is relaxed and contemporary, with wooden tables, soft globe lighting, colourful art and textiles and subtle touches of greenery creating a welcoming atmosphere. Shelves of wine and a central bar reinforce the venue’s dual identity as both bistro and bottle shop.
Breakfast is a key part of the offering, with homemade hash browns at the heart of the menu. Guests can build their own plate with options such as bacon, sausages and eggs, or opt for the Full Fold, a house take on a full English complete with barbecue borlotti beans. A vegetarian version features spinach and woodhouse mushrooms, and a children’s breakfast menu is also available.
Later menus shift towards seasonal sharing plates, from snacks such as cherrywood smoked nuts and market oysters to dishes like mushroom parfait, beetroot tart and smoked mackerel. Larger plates include corn-fed chicken and Cumbrian lamb, alongside heirloom carrots and smoked mackerel with pickles.
On Sundays, the Fold Bistro offers up a section of roasts cooked over binchotan-style embers, including English aged beef bavette, roast chicken and woodhouse mushrooms. All served with beef fat potato slice, smoked salt and a spring vegetable medley.
Desserts include lemon and ginger madeleines with yuzu curd and Mellor honey or Yorkshire cheesecake with rhubarb, alongside British cheeses. Drinks focus on natural, organic and classic wines, with beers, cocktails, coffee and soft drinks also available.
