Fitz’s Brasserie is the signature, all-day restaurant at the five star Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel, which sits right on the edge of Russell Square. You can’t miss the stunning, ornate terracotta facade of this 19th-century hotel, which occupies a whole block of grand real estate in this leafy part of London.
Step inside and you’ll find Fitz’s, which is made up of a smart brasserie, as well as Fitz’s Bar, which is perfect for casual catch-ups over a glass of wine or a cocktail. Fitz’s Brasserie is a grand, impressive space, featuring towering ceilings, comfortable tub armchairs, and even some centuries old features, such as a stained glass window overlooking the lounge.
The menu sticks to traditional British cooking, interweaving classics with some more modern ideas. In general, dishes let ingredients shine, elevating quality produce with a touch of global flair. The a la carte includes dishes such as Wye Valley asparagus with golden gen egg croquette, ricotta and romesco sauce, lamb cutlet with spiced chickpea relish, smoked aubergine and tzatziki, and chicken liver parfait with spiced apple gel and brioche. There’s still plenty of room for true classics, like an excellent dry-aged beef burger, a chicken leek and tarragon pie, and beer-battered haddock and chips.
The wine list is another calling card for Fitz's Brasserie, as the hotel boasts a considerable cellar of old world classics. You'll even find some rarer vintages in amongst the collection, making this a good place for oenophiles to spend a lazy lunch or dinner.
As well as an a la carte, Fitz’s Brasserie also serves breakfast, a set lunch menu and a very popular Sunday lunch, with starters, roasts and desserts on offer. The huge roast plates include dry-aged beef sirloin, pork belly, chicken, grilled salmon, and a vegetarian option, with all roasts coming with Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roast potatoes and all the usual trimmings.
