SquareMeal Review of Cinnamon Culture

Cinnamon Culture is a fine Indian dining restaurant. It is the perfect setting in which to sample contemporary Indian cookery.
Here you’ll taste tantalising homemade chutneys, delve into stunning starters and enjoy the kitchen’s breathtakingly creative plated main dishes, created with one eye on the traditional and another very much on current and up-and-coming trends. Unusually for an Indian restaurant, Cinnamon Culture places much of its focus on its dessert menu, allowing for further inventiveness in twisting together Eastern and Western ideas.

About

Cinnamon Culture is an innovative Indian cuisine restaurant based in outer London, on Chislehurst's picturesque highstreet. The team are passionate about bringing people together over fantastic food and well-chosen drinks, with a passion that also extends to catering, offering clients beautifully presented dishes for parties and events.

This isn't where the innovation stops, either. The team at Cinnamon Culture are so keen to pass on their love of flavour combinations and the marriage of both old and new techniques that they actually offer cookery classes withint the restaurant. For two hours you can be immersed in the world of spices and sauces, learning some of the restaurant's favourite recipes. It's a great way of showing how much they appreciate their customers, and letting them come into their world.

If, however, you're in the mood for a simple, hearty, satisfying meal - book yourself in for dinner and take advantage of the spectrum of menus, ranging from a la carte to weekend specials and tasting. As ever, to get the very best selection of what's on offer, the tasting menu is a great place to start at.

The tasting menu spans seven courses beginning with chatpati aloo puri, a classic street food snack of spicy potatoes in a crunchy semolina shell, followed by malai murg, which sees chicken chargrilled in cream cheese, topped with royal cumin and green cardamom. Next up it's the ajwain prawn dish with Tandoori king prawns served in a creamy marinade with carom seeds, as well as an achari ostrich which translates to tandoori ostrich fillet in pickling spices.

For the larger courses, diners can choose between lamb chop dum biryani or Old Delhi butter chicken. Finally, for dessert indulge in the Jeera chocolate fondant, which mixes rich, cumin-infused dark chocolate fondant with honeycomb ice cream or a gajar halwa spring roll, stuffed with fudge-like grated carrots, Indian ricotta and mixed nuts.
