From the moment you step inside, past the glass frontage letting in plenty of natural light, Cibus Pizza feels relaxed, sociable and a place to really indulge - Italian style. Sage green walls and dark wooden bistro furniture keep things classic and a touch traditional, setting the scene for an evening that’s all about eating well and lingering longer than planned.
The menu is authentically Italian with plenty to get the table started. First, kick things off with a selection of antipasti, which is generous and built for sharing. Arancini come filled with saffron, beef ragù and taleggio, crisp on the outside and rich within, served alongside garlic mayo. Braised fennel seed sausage is paired with stewed borlotti beans and chilli jam, with bread for scooping, while salt cod fritters with spring onion and chilli arrive hot, with spicy mayo for dipping. It’s a strong opening act that encourages ordering one more plate than strictly necessary.
Pizza is a clear draw here with a plenty of choice. The 4 Formaggi keeps things classic with tomato, mozzarella, parmesan, gorgonzola and taleggio, while the Tartufata swaps tomato for a white base, layering mozzarella, mushrooms, parmesan and truffle oil. The Contadina is more robust, bringing together broccoli, ricotta, garlic, chilli, sausage and parmesan - hearty without feeling heavy.
Alongside the pizzas, there’s a solid pasta offering that’s worth your attention. Orecchiette patate e cozze combines sautéed mussels with potato purée, garlic and chilli, with the option to add nduja for extra depth. Lasagna di magro layers egg pasta with spinach, artichoke hearts, ricotta and béchamel, while pappardelle with wild boar ragù is rich, slow-cooked and deeply satisfying.
Dessert keeps things playful. Cannoli are filled with sweet ricotta, chocolate batons and orange zest, tiramisu is served in a wafer basket with coffee, mascarpone and amaretto, and the sgroppino - lemon sorbet with limoncello and prosecco - offers a bright, boozy finish. Cocktails are, thankfully, Italiana too, with crowd-pleasing spritzes (Aperol, limoncello, Italicus or Hugo), amaretto sours and a punchy passion fruit margarita.
