Chequers on the Green Country Pub

Lovely evening to celebrate a birthday. The venue was welcoming, great atmosphere, good music. Staff were attentive. Good was all cooked and presented.

We will be returning soon.

We went for Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday, although The Chequers didn't know that. There were seven of us in the party, six adults and my granddaughter. We were put on a nice large table in the main restaurant.

Right from the off we were made welcome by all of the staff. Our server, Jordan was an absolute delight. Very friendly and highly professional.

Most of us plumped for the carvery option and it was superb. A great choice of meats were available accompanied by an almost overwhelming choice of vegetables. My pudding was served with a birthday candle stuck in it while the music system played "Happy Birthday to you". Great fun.

At no point did we feel rushed or that we had overstayed our welcome. Given just how busy the place was this was quite surprising but much appreciated.

I really can't recommend The Chequers too highly. Fabulous food, great service from friendly and attentive staff. What more could you ask for.

It made the day even more special for me.

Food good but portions seem to be shrinking.

We dined here last night, the food and service was outstanding. This is a proper country pub with a lovely open fire, so warm and friendly, we will be back for sure.
