Chargal is a bold, three-storey Turkish dining destination at 11 Berkeley Street from Serdar Demir, the acclaimed restaurateur behind Knightsbridge favourite The Mantl. This ambitious opening blends Turkish heritage with Mediterranean sophistication, creating an immersive experience that moves seamlessly from mezze to fine dining and late-night lounging.
On the ground floor, guests are welcomed into a vibrant mezze space inspired by the warmth of Turkish hospitality. Upstairs, the first-floor dining room offers a refined setting where open-fire cooking takes centre stage, while the sultry basement lounge transitions effortlessly from dinner to after-hours cocktails and music.
The menu is a celebration of live-fire artistry, reinterpreting Turkish classics with contemporary flair. The menu is vast, covering freshly chargrilled flatbreads, a range of hot and cold mezze dishes, raw ceviches and tartares, as well as main courses, meat from the mangal, desserts and more. Signature dishes include Wagyu Iskender, Grilled Halloumi Doughnuts, and Kuru Cacik – each crafted with precision and creativity. Alongside traditional Turkish dishes like sarma beyti and tavuk sis, the menu at Chargal also has some more unusual items, including a chocolate-aged Wagyu tomahawk, and brown butter sweet potatoes with kumquat and Damascus rose.
Chargal also serves a dedicated brunch menu, featuring multiple riffs on Turkish eggs, an array of brunch mezze dishes - oak-cured pastrami, muhammara, and feta borek, for example - and speciality breads and flatbreads cooked in the woodfired oven.
Chargal’s interiors echo this ethos, combining raw textures with sophisticated design for a space that feels both dramatic and inviting. It’s a concept that reflects Demir’s own journey: 'Chargal combines the authenticity of traditional Turkish flavours with the contemporary refinement of European dining,' he explains.
