Chamuyo Bayswater is a traditional Argentinian steakhouse in West London with a cosy feel and impressive menu, packed full of grill-led dishes. Chamuyo has a fantastic location, not only is it only a few minutes walk from Queensway station, it's also just a stone's throw from Hyde Park, making it not only centrally positioned but also in a fabulous spot for a day exploring the best of what West London has to offer.
The decor of the restaurant certainly adds to the vibe, too. Rustic wooden seating and atmospheric lighting come together for a place that feels typically bistro. Red pendant lamps have a stylish touch but the overall aesthetic isn't about being overdone. It's the kind of place you can settle into for the evening with family or friends and really enjoy the food.
The menu kicks things off with starters, beginning with calamari with tartare sauce, alongside grilled provolone cheese and morcilla, which is a soft black pudding. The chorizo criollo offers diners the chance to try a typical Argentine-style sausage, while the chorizo al Malbec brings together Spanish red chorizo cooked in Malbec wine with caramalised red onions.
For mains, many diners will opt for something from the grill - particularly as this is what the restaurant is known for. There's options such as rib-eye, sirloin, fillet and rump. As for special cuts, the butterfly sirloin steak sounds delicious, but you really can't go wrong with the chamuyo meat sampler which offers a taste of all four premium cuts, served alongside chunky chips, mashed potatoes or house salad.
If you're not in the steak mood, fear not, there's plenty more to choose from. The pollo al chimichurri heroes boneless grilled chicken marinated in chimichurri, while the lamb chops are served with a mix of vegetables with a rich, sticky lamb reduction sauce. Sides like green beans, tomatoe and onion salad and grilled mushrooms confit round things off nicely.
