Caravan has now arrived in Manchester, bringing the flavours of the world to your plate on Goods Yard Street. Having had so much success in numerous locations across London, Caravan has kicked off with a bang up north. Located in the St John's Area, this all day dining venue is home to its own coffee roastery and takeaway coffee bar, along with an impressive bar and private dining room. The bar is dog friendly, meaning that you can bring your best friend along for the ride, while you soak in the laid back atmosphere, and New Zealand inspired design.
For breakfast, start off with a White Peach Bellini or delicious cucumber, apple, parsley, spinach and ginger green juice. To warm you up on a cold winter's day, order the golden spiced milk with warm almond milk, turmeric, cinnamon and honey, before diving into a bowl of fresh fruit or maple sesame granola. Breakfast plates include classics like poached eggs, with their own Caravan twist of whipped yoghurt, garlic, fenugreek-chilli butter, gunpowder and house flatbread. You'll also find ricotta pancakes with date butter, molasses and double cream, a spicy jalapeno cornbread, and chorizo and potato hash with poached eggs, tomato fresca and saffron buttermilk dressing.
If we were visiting in the evening, however, we'd order the Action Romance Martini, with delicious snacking plates of jamon and smoked san simon croquettes and prawn crackers in sesame nori salt. For starters, enjoy charred hispi cabbage with den miso, stilton, mint, basil and spring onion, followed by a slow-fermented sourdough nduja pizza, scattered with cavolo nero, confit garlic, mozzarella and parmesan. Sticking around for pud? Try the caramelised brioche with miso caramel, vanilla ice cream and Thai basil cress – yum.
