Campanelle is an all-day Italian restaurant located on Billiter Street in the City of London. Set within a Grade II listed building that once housed the London Shipping Exchange, the space blends heritage architecture with a modern approach to Italian dining. The restaurant is founded by Ninai Zarach, whose concept draws on her travels across Italy and the idea that ‘all roads lead to Rome’.
The dining room retains original period features, with tall ceilings, arched windows and a layout suited to both casual and more formal occasions. Seating is a mix of banquettes and freestanding tables, with a dedicated coffee bar area that caters to the breakfast and mid-morning crowd. Lighting is low in the evening, with the space shifting from daytime service to a more intimate dinner setting.
The menu covers a broad sweep of Italian regions, starting with snacks such as house-made focaccia romana and grilled artichokes. Antipasti include traditional dishes like parmigiana di melanzane and fresh Portland crab salad with celeriac and salty fingers. A section of fritti features calamari and prawns, alongside langoustine arancini.
Pastas are central to the offer, with a signature carbonara and a lobster linguine among the highlights. Secondi options include larger sharing dishes such as a salt-baked wild sea bass, served whole and opened at the table, and a 45-day-aged beef ribeye with summer truffle. Sides are kept simple and seasonal.
The dessert list is short, featuring a tiramisu that references the founder’s original recipe, and an Amalfi lemon meringue tart. The drinks list includes wines from across Italy, as well as classic aperitifs and digestifs.
Campanelle is open from early morning through to late evening, offering coffee and lighter options during the day before transitioning into a full restaurant service in the evenings. It’s designed as a space for both quick drop-ins and longer meals, with the layout and menu flexible enough to suit different times of day. The restaurant appeals to nearby office workers during the week and those looking for a more refined Italian option in the City.
