Featuring a smashing menu of elegant and classic Italian dishes, with plenty of modern twists, Cafe Antipasti is one of Glasgow's favourite Italian restaurants, having opened back in 1997. The restaurant can seat up to 90 diners, and is open from 12pm every day. As for the interiors, the space has been designed by Scottish craftsman Paul Hodgkiss and features rich-toned woodcraft that is unique on every single table, and intricate ironwork.
Why not go in for the full three courses and begin with a selection of tasty starters for the table? There are gnocchi dumplings in a rich pesto and parmesan cream, West Coast mussels in napoli sugo and chilli and a smooth chicken liver pate on toasted ciabatta with red onion marmalade.
There are just as many impressive mains as there are starters, with a wild mushroom risotto infused with truffle oil and parmesan, oven-roast chicken breast with fresh asparagus, gnocchi dumplings, white wine and cream and Scottish salmon fillets with tomato, chorizo and garden pea sauce, served with potato and leek gratin.
Of course, it wouldn't be an Italian without some superb pasta dishes. Try the simple yet delicious penne arrabbiata in a fiery Roman sauce with kalamata olives and torn basil, spaghetti carbonara with crispy bacon and a rich Tuscan bolognese with a splash of cream, baked in foil with fusilli pasta and mozzarella shavings.
Pizza over pasta? Then choose the calzone stuffed with Italian sausage, mortadella, pepperoni and mozzarella, finished with crispy pancetta. Classic stone baked pizzas include a chicken and caramelised topping option, spicy nduja sausage with buffalo mozzarella and goats cheese with mozzarella, kalamata olives, sweet cherry tomatoes and pine nuts.
