Beautiful garden views and abundant light from a glassed ceiling take the edge off the formal stuffiness in this traditional dining room (though you'll still need that jacket and tie). The modern British carte may feature both lemongrass and chorizo, but the popular sets are decidedly old school -- baked haddock with smoked Welsh rarebit, followed by braised shoulder of lamb with cabbage and sticky toffee pudding with butterschotch sauce, say. A strong corporate following appreciates the efficient service and well-spaced tables, while weekending couples and wedding parties come for the romantic 17th century setting.
