Atlantic Gate in Southampton serves modern European dishes with a focus on fresh seafood. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers a polished setting suited to birthday celebrations, date nights and special occasions. Atlantic Gate menus, created by head chef Andrew Gault and his team, centre on seafood and classic grill dishes paired with cocktails and a carefully selected wine list.
Small plates include options such as seared scallops with crisp pancetta, smoked salmon with pickled cucumber and burrata served with heirloom tomatoes. Other dishes bring global influences to the menu, such as Sri Lankan grilled chicken finished with toasted coconut. Larger plates combine seafood and comfort classics. Diners can choose dishes such as monkfish, fish pie or chicken schnitzel, while the grill section includes options like Black Angus 50-day aged sirloin or grilled salmon fillet. A selection of sandwiches are also available. Sides and desserts round out the menu with classics such as sticky toffee pudding, creme brulee and trifle. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are available across the menus.
The drinks list includes classic cocktails such as margaritas, daiquiris and espresso martinis, alongside an extensive wine selection and a range of spirits. Guests can also enjoy beers from Power Monkey Brewing and spirits such as Isle of Wight Mermaid Gin. The restaurant also offers “sober sips”, including mocktails such as pineapple mint fizz and citrus cooler.
Inside, the restaurant is bright and contemporary, with floor-to-ceiling windows bringing plenty of natural light into the dining room. Parquet wooden flooring, mirrored walls and pops of greenery add contrast to the sleek interior. A large open kitchen with a marble counter creates a theatrical element where diners can watch dishes being prepared. Located beside Southampton Central’s historic Gate 8, the restaurant also features an enclosed glass-fronted terrace suited to al fresco dining during warmer months.
