It may be just a short wander from the main hotel, but the feel of the boathouse is more New England than smart Scotland, where an unstuffy menu matches the laid-back atmosphere. Given the location, fish and seafood, such as local salmon, mussels, Asian-style prawns and fish and chips, are obvious choices, but there’s plenty more to tempt the family like classic pizzas from the wood-burning oven, burgers and serious beef dishes. If the weather’s fine, the deck provides glorious views over the boats and the loch beyond, but the interior is cosy enough to tempt whatever the heavens have planned.
