This family-friendly Vietnamese restaurant finds its home in Ilkley, serving up a varied menu of Asian favourites. The charming independent eatery is set amongst the main hubbub of Ilkley and is a favourite in the Leeds area for authentic Vietnamese food. In a Yorkshire town where country pubs and European style bistros are more the norm, this small Asian restaurant provides a welcome option of a completely different cusine for both the locals and anyone who may be travelling through this beautiful area of the country.
Run by head chef Loc Bui who was born and raised in the Vietnamese city of Saigon, Bistro Saigon offers dishes which have been passed down through generations and now a new audience have a chance to taste them. With a focus on classic Vietnamese flavours like lemongrass, ginger and chilli, every dish is freshly cooked to order and can be adjusted depending on the diner's prefered level of spicing. The menu varies from unusual dishes like the mango and mooli salmon and the caramel ginger chicken, to more typical dishes like pho and vietnamese dumplings with prices for main courses all around the £12 mark. There are also plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, with tofu able to be used as an alternative to meat in most dishes. The helpful and knowledgable staff are also always on hand to help you with the menu and advise on what to order if needed.
The food menu is accompanied by a lengthy wine and drinks list, with wines available both by the glass and bottle, and and entirely Asian selection of beers.
Whether for a romantic occasion or a big family dinner, the bright, modern interior is a perfect setting to sit back and enjoy a reasonably priced meal whilst trying new flavours and stuffing your face all at the same time.
