12 of the best family friendly restaurants in Leeds

YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE

This is a city with a lot to offer in terms of food and drink, but finding a child friendly restaurant in Leeds that is still fun for adults can be tricky. Not every restaurant and cafe is set up with kid-friendly equipment, for example - high chairs, baby changing facilities and the like. If your kids are fussy eaters, you’ll also be hoping for somewhere that offers a kids menu with easy-going favourites that are bound to be a hit with the little ones. Kids menus usually offer smaller, popular dishes like mini burgers and chips - not only does that save you money, it also ensures minimal waste. Sometimes, family-friendly restaurants in Leeds city centre will throw in drinks and desserts for free - great as long as you’re prepared for the sugar rush afterwards.

Still, you don’t want to consign yourself to eating kids food either - you deserve a treat too! We’ve picked out a handful of family-friendly restaurants in Leeds that appeal to both parents and kids, offering good food for both.

If a proper restaurant sounds a little too much like an ordeal, there are plenty of child-friendly cafes in Leeds as well where you can nab a table to yourself and settle them down with a slice of cake or a pastry, whilst you fuel up with a coffee.

The Cut & Craft Leeds

cut and craft burger

What: We’re big fans of The Cut & Craft Leeds, partly thanks to the absolutely stunning location, but also the restaurant’s luxurious, 60-day-aged Aberdeen Angus steaks. It’s a sophisticated spot but The Cut & Craft isn’t just for adults - the kids menu includes fish goujons, mini burgers and grilled chicken and chips, as well as a scoop of ice cream for dessert, all for just £8.50. Bear in mind, though, last sitting for guests under the age of 10 is at 4:45pm.

Kerala Canteen

chicken curry at kerala canteen

What: Kerala Canteen might not have a dedicated children’s menu, but it’s still a great shout for families with slightly older kids. The menu is packed with approachable small plates and gently spiced dishes that cater to more delicate palates - think comforting green vegetable korma or a rich, flavourful chicken curry - both mild enough for younger diners but still full of character. Sweet-toothed kids will love the dessert selection, which includes indulgent options like Dubai chocolate cheesecake and a sticky cinnamon toffee pudding. The team is always happy to tweak spice levels on request, so parents can relax knowing the heat won’t overwhelm.
