Located in the small market town of North Walsham, just a short drive from Norfolk’s sandy beaches and coastal paths, Beechwood Hotel & Restaurant offers refined dining in a tranquil countryside setting. Owned by Hugh and Emma Asher, this award-winning hotel blends warm hospitality with a polished food offering, welcoming both residents and non-residents.
The Beechwood Restaurant serves both an à la carte and seasonal tasting menus. The latter also comes with an optional wine flight, and vegan and vegetarian dinner menus are also available, with vegan options available for pre-order. Plus, cream teas are available in the afternoon.
The kitchen is led by head chefs Scott Elden and Lawrence Gurney, who focus on seasonal, local produce and classic British flavours. Starters include dishes such as pan-seared scallops with petits pois puree, shimeji mushrooms and raspberry vinaigrette, or grilled Cromer crab with scrambled eggs and asparagus. Mains include roast rack of Norfolk lamb with rosemary potatoes and crispy sweetbreads, beef fillet with horseradish puree, or seared sea bass with buttered Norfolk new potatoes.
On Sundays, guests can expect a special Sunday lunch menu complete with all the trimmings. Think comforting favourites like crispy battered tiger prawns, slow-cooked belly pork with a sage and honey glaze, and roast sirloin of beef with Yorkshire puddings, duck fat potatoes and seasonal vegetables. As for the dessert selection, there are British classics like Bramley apple crumble with salted caramel sauce as well as a spiced chocolate mousse.
The restaurant’s Art Deco interior creates a calm, elegant setting, while bay windows and a pale colour scheme give the dining room a serene atmosphere by day. Whether you're hunting out the best roast dinner, or looking to celebrate an important milestone like a birthday or anniversary, The Beechwood Hotel & Restaurant is a relaxing, intimate choice.
