About

If you’re looking for a traditional British pub, with a warm, cosy atmosphere, look no further. Found in the heart of the English countryside, the Barley Mow Country Pub & Dining is everything that a quintessential English pub should be, with delicious cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. With a rich history and a dedication to quality, Barley Mow Country Pub has been impressing locals and passers by for generations, and is the perfect setting for any occasion.

To start your meal, enjoy a classic prawn cocktail with brandy infused seafood sauce with cucumber ketchup and roquito purée, or a camembert with onion jam and some garlic and herb croutes. Pub classics include sausages and mash served with greens and red wine jus, and free range ham, egg and chips with pineapple and piccalilli sauce. Mains include the minted barnsley chop with Dauphinoise potatoes, buttery kale and hotpot sauce, and seabream fillet with herby potatoes, red and gold tomato, cress salad, sautéed salsify, and a pea and pesto coulis. Barley Mow burgers are all served on a vegan brioche bun with chips and a corn on the cob, and you could dine on the gourmet beef burger with cheese, bacon, lettuce, burger relish, burger sauce and slaw.

On Sundays, enjoy a lunch that includes roast turkey, sirloin of beef, roast duo of lamb, pan seared free range chicken breast, a lentil roast, mushroom Wellington or sea bream fillet. All are served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and seasonal vegetables. And, if you want extras, you can order some cauliflower cheese, stuffing, and jumbo pigs in blankets. For dessert, try the bakewell tart served with cherry purée, clotted cream and cherry ice cream, or the Eton mess parfait served with berry meringue and strawberry shards.

Wow, a hard to beat Sunday roast!

Visited Sunday 7 August. Three in our party. We had the baked Camembert to start (shared between three of us). Wish we hadn't had a starter when we saw the size of the roast dinner mains that arrived shortly afterwards. HUGE and totally delicious, from the stuffed pork and veg to the potatoes, gigantic Yorkshire pud and lashings of gravy. A really amazing meal that left no room for dessert or even a cup of tea. One of the best, if not the best, roast dinners I have ever eaten outside of home. Plenty of other menu options too but not vast choices which can leave you bamboozled. Something for everyone I'd say and good value for money in lovely, peaceful, countryside surroundings. Round of applause for the whole team but especially head chef Jordan Gregory-Astle. Highly recommend.
