Baan Phad Thai is a traditional Thai restaurant in the heart of Reddish, run by an adorable mother-and-son duo, offering home-cooked meals to eat in or take away. As a small, family-run restaurant creating a welcoming atmosphere and serving up comfort-style food is a big part of what makes this place special. Much of the menu is inspired by generational, family recipes and actually, even the name encourages you to stay and make yourself comfortable - you see, baan means home in Thai.
The Head Chef and one half of the operation originally comes from the Isaan region of Northeastern Thailand, bringing with her over 30 years of experience and a rich knowledge of Isaan's culinary heritage. If you're looking for authentic Thai food, honest cooking, quality ingredients and a wholesome plate of something warm and nourishing in Stockport, Baan Phad Thai is the place. And, you'll be supporting a local independent.
So, what's on the menu? To start, get excited about appetisers such as Isaan sausage served with fresh ginger, chilli and cabbage; deep fried spare ribs marinated in Thai spices, fried and tossed in garlic and black pepper; and king prawn tempura served with a rich, tangy plum sauce.
If you're in the mood for a side salad or starter soup, both the Nam Tok salad with beef steak, fresh herbs, toasted rice powder, lime juice, chilli and onions, as well as the Tom-Yum soup, with lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves and mushrooms, sound delicious. There's even more choice across main dishes - from Phad Thai noodles and pineapple fried rice to oyster sauce stir fry and Panang curry. Many of the dishes allow you to add your own protein and there's heaps of choice there too, including duck, fish, chicken, beef, vegetables or tofu. Booking ahead is very much advised and the team can't always be on top of their requests inbox, so try and send a message a few days in advance!
