Antro is a Latin American bar and street food venue in Brixton, occupying the space previously home to the bar Barrio. It was opened by a group of friends and hospitality veterans who restored the building themselves, painting the walls and building the fixtures by hand rather than working to a corporate design brief.
The food comes from El Guarroso, serving Colombian street food. Starters include a build-your-own Spanish omelette with toppings such as Serrano ham, Spanish chorizo and crispy pork belly, alongside beef and chicken empanadas and dirty nachos loaded with cheese sauce, salsa, guacamole and jalapeños. Tacos come filled with seasoned beef, chicken or crispy pork belly, and the burger menu runs from the OG Burger to the Street King Burger, loaded with egg, bacon, ham and onion rings. There are also hot dogs, including the Big Dog with two sausages and a full range of toppings, plus buffalo and honey ranch BBQ wings, and sides like loaded fries and onion rings.
The cocktail list leans Latin American, with drinks including the Guavalajara, made with reposado tequila and guava purée; Machu Peachy, made with pisco and peach schnapps; a classic caipirinha made with cachaça; and a piña colada, mojito and strawberry daiquiri alongside spritzes made with Aperol, Hugo or Sarti Rosa. Draught beer includes Coldharbour Lager, an Atlantic American Pale Ale, and Blue Moon, and the wine list draws on South American and European producers, among them El Oscuro Malbec from Argentina, San Abello Sauvignon Blanc from Chile, and Zigolo Prosecco Spumante from Italy.
