Birmingham's Ladypool Road is famous for the so-called Balti Triangle, where many of the best Indian balti restaurants in the country reside. All up and down the road you'll find food options - not just Indian and Bangladeshi restaurants, but also Turkish, such as Antep Turkish Cuisine.
The interiors are striking thanks to bold patterned floor tiles and exposed brick walls. There's a pop of colour from a scarlet red banquette on one side of the dining room, and though the rest of the room is fairly plain, it is still smart, with well-spaced solid wood tables and leather-bound chairs.
The menu kicks off with hot and cold starters, including classics like hummus, cacik, babaganoush and tabbouleh, as well as grilled halloumi, falafel and grilled Turkish sausage. There are mixed platters available for those who prefer to spend less time choosing and more time eating.
The focus of the kitchen is the charcoal grill, where chicken and lamb skewers sit roasting over glowing charcoal. All your favourite grill dishes are on the menu here, from a chicken shish, to adana kebab, to a chicken or lamb doner. Many are available in combinations if you can't choose, and there are kebabs with sauces too, such as iskender and yogurtlu kebabs. Kebabs come with rice and salad, but chips are available if that's more your vibe, and you can have your grill in a wrap instead of on a plate if you're planning on making a dash.
There's a separate kids menu as well if you're planning on visiting with family, which includes kids versions of chicken and lamb shish and doner kebabs, as well as chicken nuggets. Antep Turkish Cuisine offers takeaway for delivery and collection for those who prefer to eat at home.
