Bringing some edge back to Camden, 40 Zero is an all-day café which transforms into a bustling bar in the evening. The exposed brickwork, graffiti-scrawled walls, and clubby soundtrack make this a popular spot for what is a predominantly younger crowd
Eggs every way, juices, protein shakes and coffees are available for breakfast, while the à la carte menu showcases sharing plates, burgers (including halloumi and vegan options) and hand stretched pizzas. The baba ganoush is a filling sharer dish, consisting of a rich aubergine tahini paste, which comes served with pitta bread and is scattered with pomegranate seeds. We also enjoyed the cheekily named ‘balls deep’ sourdough pizza, with the topping of beef n'duja meatballs adding a spicy kick to the subtler tomato and mozzarella flavours.
A CBD-based cocktail called Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds takes centre stage on the drinks menu, and is a sweet concoction of gin, Aperol, tangerine, marmalade and CBD oil served in a Martini glass with a frothy egg white head. A range of Grind-based drinks are also available, including the Negroni No. 40 – a moreish take on the classic cocktail with the addition of salted Grind coffee syrup.
