SquareMeal Review of The Shoreditch

Bronze Award

New club/bar The Shoreditch is pulling in the hip, ‘street style’ posse with its mix of cheesy decor, tiki cocktails, please-all platters, fondues & edgy live music (from kitschy pop & electro nights to live ‘jazz meets’). House Merlot is £14.50, but allow £8.50 upwards for cocktail fancies such as ‘planet of the apes’ (rum, bananas & exotic fruits ‘shaken like a monkey’) or ‘Jack & Jill’ (a Jack Daniels, raspberry & ginger beer mule) served in garish tiki mugs. To share, there’s reggae punch or Studio 54 (a discotastic Prosecco & vodka cup at £150 for 10 guzzlers). Mini-flights of sampler cocktails called ‘tours’ offer the mixologists’ liquid take on Hoxton, Whitechapel, Brick Lane & other trendy neighbourhoods – so expect a hotchpotch of wild & wonderful ingredients.

I went here for a corporate party and I'm so happy we did! I didn't have high hopes for the annual party, usually it's somewhere beyond tacky. The Last Days of Decadence was a real breath of fresh hair, just a few minutes away from the city (so no long walk after work!) and the food was brilliant. I'm thinking of coming back here with a few friends as it's the ideal after-work-spot, I clocked large plates of nachos dripping with sour cream and generous drinks.

I stumbled across this place on a Saturday night and was very pleasantly suprised to find live music and burlesque performers. After a cracking night out on Saturday I came here for a light meal on a weekday after work- the venue has a really cosy art deco feel and dim lighting which added to the cabaret feel. I went with a couple of friends and we tried the Grilled haloumi, Pan fried chorizo and Falafels dishes all were £4-5 which was reasonable, there were sharing platters all at around £7 and sides all around £2.50. After dinner we were meant to move on and meet other friends but everyone ended up coming over to the Last Days of Decadence and drinking cocktails all evening!

A real find, elegant and innovative, its atime warp, 1920s chic and in the eve its full of debauchery and dancing, i particularly recommend Circus, great DJ and party vibe. Dress Up! Excellent choice of alochol and now they have ‘cock-teas’ go and investigate! Really rate the whole experience of this place, lovely staff and everything is very stylish but without being too poncy.
