A local's local for the good folk of Pimlico, this stucco-fronted boozer/hotel is a godsend for quick drinks after work, extended sessions and catch-ups. The comfortable ground-floor bar spills out onto the pavement on sunny days, where drinkers mingle beneath the pretty hanging baskets that festoon the frontage. The Orange also cuts it as a decent gastro bolthole: wood-fired pizzas are the preferred tucker downstairs and get a big tick of approval from the regulars. Those in need of something a little more substantial can head upstairs for chilli salt squid with smoked chilli and lime dressing, pistachio-crusted veal with white beans and pancetta, lemon and gooseberry Eton mess and other modern-day riffs. At the weekend, we'd also recommend the good-value roast (with all the trimmings and seasonal veg) as a great way of whiling away a wet Sunday afternoon.
