The Lamb

SquareMeal Review of The Lamb

A true relic of the past, The Lamb has been standing since 1729, & has clung on to many of its original features: take a look at the frosted-glass snob screens surrounding the bar (so punters could drink at ease without feeling the watchful eye of the barmen) & the still-working polyphon which hangs on the wall. There’s even a ‘1729 celebration pie’ filled with beef & mushrooms on the menu, alongside bangers & mash or pork stir-fry with rice. Young’s beers provide liquid refreshment: sup your pint at studded, racing-green leather banquettes, venture out into the small courtyard or make use of the pavement.
