SquareMeal Review of
The Grove Bar & Restaurant
Imagine a boozer in which plants have been allowed to run amok, & the interior has been kitted out following an ‘everything must go’ sale at a local antique market, & you can understand
some of The Grove's chaotic charm. This is a spacious, occasionally rowdy & decidedly family-friendly place where the menu gallops round the Mediterranean looking for influences: starters might
include lamb kofta kebabs with couscous or an insalata caprese of tomato, mozzarella & basil, while main courses find penne with red peppers, roasted vegetables & feta rubbing shoulders
with crispy-fried grey mullet with polenta cake, grilled asparagus, vine tomatoes & a gremolata-like garlic & parsley dressing. Weekend brunches are popular with the young local crowd;
cocktails & an inexpensive drinks list keep the party going well into the night.
