SquareMeal Review of
The Greyhound & Twenty One
The Greyhound was on the point of closure before a keen family took it over and completely transformed the place into one of Suffolk’s most popular family pubs. Since then, it’s gained sackfuls of praise for its “wonderfully friendly staff”, “brilliant food” and “lovely service”. The original boozer has been extensively modernised, with real ales for grown-ups in the colourful bar (Woodforde’s Wherry, Cottage Southern Bitter, etc) and a garden specially designed with kids in mind, while a separate brick-built extension houses Twenty One – the pub’s well-run, modern restaurant. A please-all menu runs from breaded Camembert or bacon and black pudding salad to crispy pork belly with bubble ‘n’ squeak or sea bass fillet with creamed potato and leeks, backed up steaks and burgers plus some tried-and-tested desserts. Note that Twenty One is only open Wednesday to Saturday evenings and for Sunday lunch.
