SquareMeal Review of The Fourth Wall

The name refers to the imaginary wall through which theatre audiences observe the action, & this itinerant nightspot is itself no bigger than a small stage set. First of all, would-be drinkers have to discover its current location via cryptic clues online – we eventually found ourselves with 80 young things hiding under an East End railway arch. This pop-up replica of Bourne & Hollingsworth looks like a 1930s sitting room, & its walls visibly shake to thumping beats as a well-stocked bar tries to keep up with demand for cocktails, some served in teacups. Old fashioned, the Gatsby (a vodka, pomegranate & raspberry sling) & Hollingsworth fizz strike the right period note, & a Miller’s dry martini also shapes up well. There’s beer & wine too, & entrance is free at this weekends-only, semi-secret shindig.
