Following the success of the original Patty & Bun in Marylebone, burger entrepreneur Joe Grossman has branched out with a second outlet across town. Occupying what was the Liverpool Street
branch of dim sum chain Ping Pong, (directly opposite the UK’s busiest McDonald’s), the new 20-seater joint offers an
affordable selection of handmade, British-bred patties in brioche buns – although there's a greater emphasis on high-speed takeaways. Either way, City types can expect an oddball line-up including
everything from Smokey Robinson, Ari Gold and ‘hot chic’ chicken to a portobello mushroom version with slaw, garlic parsley butter and tarragon mayo. Smoked chicken wings, chips with rosemary salt
and the odd weekly special complete the short menu, while the sharp drinks list includes an 'old skool selection' of soft drink favourites.
In recent years the burger has come a long way from being cheap cuts of flavourless beef sloppily inserted between dry bread with ketchup and a bit of cheese; to carefully crafted towers of joy made up of organic grass-fed beef, buttery and bouncy brioche buns, homemade cheese mixes, artisan pickles…the list goes on.Type #foodporn into pretty much any form of Social Media and invariably you will be greeted by a picture of a burger. Enter ‘burger blog’ into google and you will find endless blogs detailing the best and worst burgers to be had around the globe (of which only a handful are any good – Burger...

Determined to carb load before watching the London Marathon, we opted to visit one of the originals Patty and Bun. This is my third time to the burger joint and each time is just as good as the last. The Liverpool Street branch is small but cosy and service is uber quick. You don't have to wait long to stuff your face! It's situated just outside the station next to Macdonalds - this is a much better shout if you're in need of a foodie fix. Simply walk up to the counter, give your name and take a seat...

So as you know I’m something of an addict when it comes to burgers and as there are a lot of burger joints in and around London I am by no means suggesting I have tried them all with this post. But what I do know is that Patty & Bun consistently deliver my most favourite, mouth watering, burger combinations to date! From their signature ‘Ari Gold‘ to ever changing specials I have never been disappointed. On Saturday evening we dived into the Liverpool Street branch for a burger to go and despite devouring it on the tube platform waiting ten minutes for the Newbury Park service to turn up it didn’t shadow my...
