SquareMeal Review of London Review Cake Shop

As cute as they come, this venue is a heaven-sent partnership involving a cake emporium & a bookshop – the two linked by a wee tunnel behind the history section. Serious tomes deserve serious baking, & the kitchen duly obliges with a cracking daily selection of goodies. On the savoury side, expect well-filled sandwiches made from artisan breads, & homely quiches supported by fresh-as-a-daisy salads, plus chunky stews & nutritious organic soups. Sweet-toothed bibliophiles also have plenty to cheer about, with signature recipes including blueberry teacakes, lemon, rosemary & olive oil cakes, green cardamom & white chocolate brownies, plus dinky tarts groaning with fresh berries. Pick out your favourite novel, order up a cup of specialist tea or Monmouth coffee & lose yourself for a little while.
