SquareMeal Review of
Since 2007, Iris has slowly insinuated itself into the local consciousness, gathering a solid reputation en route. Situated on a New Town lane strewn with eateries, its unassuming exterior makes
way for a simple bistro-style dining room with cool wooden tables & decorative flourishes on the walls. The kitchen takes Scottish ingredients & gives them an international spin, with
dependable results. At dinner, this could mean seared scallops with Ibérico ham, ahead of monkfish tails cooked with red wine, garlic & cinnamon, or rib-eye steak with black pepper & lemon.
Add some new potatoes with mint & butter or garlic fries if you’re ravenous, & round things off with crème caramel or tarte tatin. Service receives applause & the core wine list has
plenty of decent drinking in the sub-£20 bracket (glasses from £3.30).
