SquareMeal Review of Hawkins Forge

A slice of the Deep South has arrived in restaurant-scant Battersea in the form of this all-American bar and diner. Sink into a deep leather armchair or plonk yourself at one of the oak tables in the exposed brick dining room before chowing down on classic American BBQ-style specialties. Fried chicken – tenderised by a good ol’ overnight soaking in milk before being rubbed in the house spice blend – is naughty but nice, much like the spicy chicken wings with lip-puckering hot sauce, burgers ribs and hot dogs. If kicked things off with fully loaded nachos to share, you’re unlikely to make it to the key lime pie stage; either way, wash it down with craft beers, cocktails before retreating to the garden for some fresh air and something from the impressive bourbon range.
