Squaremeal Review of Gatti's City Point ?

The original Gatti’s is no more, but its spirit has been successfully transplanted from Finsbury Avenue to Ropemaker Street. A casual wine bar/diner overlooking the square dishes out arancini and snacks, while the more formal basement room has echoes of sister restaurant Bolton’s with its red-leather banquettes and white tablecloths. Come here for familiar, easy-to-like starters of seafood salad, minestrone and San Daniele ham with Mozzarella (or melon), followed by calf’s liver with butter and sage, grilled Dover sole or homemade ravioli stuffed with chicken and veal. A sense of theatre means plenty of trolley action, from rib of beef to puddings galore, while a takeaway and delivery service soothes office workers in need of some casalinga-style comfort. Arrive early for Gatti’s convivial and sensibly priced City breakfast, or stay late if you fancy making inroads into its list of tasty Italian reds.

    When I first started this blog, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with it or what purpose it should fulfil. So I chose a random template on WordPress, wrote down a chicken marinade, and left it at that. Nearly three years on, I’ve learned so much from this venture. I still use a WordPress template, albeit one that fits a lot better with my content, I’ve invested in a new camera, which has significantly improved my photos, and I’ve also discovered the food blogging community a little more. I’ve decided to blog less and focus more on quality than quantity, and most importantly, I still love spending time on it.

    The Hedonist :: Gattis City Point

    I love exploring the latest food and dining trends-I could be up for eating insect-based food in a blacked-out dining room…naked….but sometimes I crave a bit of old-school Italian charm, a dessert trolley and a menu that offers certainty and not too much innovation. So an invitation to review Gatti’s in the City Point development near Moorgate seemed like an excellent idea.
