This sunnily disposed café-bar brings a hint of Barcelona’s Las Ramblas to Hackney’s Broadway Market. Tables spill on to the street from French windows, and inside you’ll find sun-bleached dining sets and traditional Spanish-pattern floor tiles. Kick back with Caipirinha, Mojito, Sangria or Mahou and Estrella Damm lagers. Alternatively, sip cracking cava (from £5.50 a glass), chilled Catalan rosé, light and lively organic Mariona Alicante Bouschet (£24), or florid white Rioja from a 50-strong wine list. Effervescent staff serve breakfast (Londres or Madrid-style), sharing boards – melt-in-the-mouth Manchego and velvety slivers from happy, acorn-fed hogs – and top-notch tapas from £4. A filling feast for two might consist of firm, flavoursome onion tortilla, chorizo and butter-bean stew, meatballs in almond and pine-nut sauce, crab meat with mango and passion-fruit mousse, flaky-fresh hake tempura with beetroot and pak choi, and a vegetarian or seafood paella. Afterwards, join in the Broadway Market paseo.
