SquareMeal Review of Daddy Bao

This Taiwanese joint in Tooting comes from the team behind Peckham’s Mr Bao and is named in honour of owner Frank Yeung’s father. Signature bao buns come stuffed with the likes of crunchy fried chicken or pork with pickles and peanut powder, while elsewhere on the menu there are beer-marinated prawns with pickled mooli and spiced spring onions, and cucumbers with golden kimchi. Drinks wise, you can expect cocktails that make use of Asian staples, such as lychee and saké.

This place is my new favourite restaurant! I had a lovely evening here with a few friends, the atmosphere was great and the staff were extremely friendly. The bao buns were light and fluffy with perfectly cooked fillings, I went for a pork and a beef, both scrumptious. There is something for everyone here and the price is very reasonable! I loved the food, the drinks, the atmosphere, and the story behind the place - I can't recommend this gem enough, it was truly amazing.
