SquareMeal Review of Chez Pascal’s

Bronze Award

Describing itself as a ‘café restaurant’, Chez Pascal’s delivers “very authentic” and high-quality French cuisine in casual surrounds just five minutes’ walk from Sidcup station. Red tablecloths, old prints, posters and shelves lined with comestibles create a comfortably bourgeois Gallic feel, while the menu treads a familiar path: English and French breakfasts (fry-ups, BLTs, omelettes, eggs Benedict) give way to lunchtime baguettes, salmon fishcakes, salade niçoise and a fistful of pasta dishes for good measure (spaghetti carbonara, lasagne etc). In the evening, things move up a notch for the likes of wild boar terrine, escargots with Roquefort, chicken chasseur, Barbary duck breast in cherry sauce or grilled salmon with hollandaise sauce, followed by a choice of ready-made desserts ‘from the fridge’. Chez Pascal’s isn’t “too expensive” either, and it’s also unlicensed – although you can BYOB without corkage.
