SquareMeal Review of
Brasserie Abode Manchester
A relaxed venue in the style of a grand European bar-brasserie, the newly revamped Brasserie Abode provides all-day dining from breakfast and brunch through to late-night dinner and cocktails. The stylish basement dining space is decked out with a mirrored ceiling and electric-blue velvet seating, while the ground-floor Brasserie Bar features striking geometric monochrome chevron tiles and polished brass. Brasserie classics form the mainstay of the menu, from confit duck and steak frites to grilled lemon sole. Our smoked haddock Scotch egg starter, delicate and crisp, was accompanied by a creamy crab bisque; a rich, robust French onion soup came topped with melting cheese. To follow, both the rib-eye and the whole grilled lobster were accurately cooked, with decent sides of buttered spinach and tender green beans, though the fries lacked seasoning. Crowd-pleasing desserts bring meals to a satisfying end; we enjoyed a comforting rice pudding lifted by sour-cherry compote.
