SquareMeal Review of
Within easy reach of its sibling Belgo Centraal, this junior branch of the mussel-bound mini-chain has all the necessary credentials. Belgians take their beers seriously, and aficionados can sip
their way through Blanche de Bruxelles, Slag Pils, Pauwel Kwak, Delirium Tremens and Westmalle Trippel (weighing in at a brain-jangling 9.5% abv). If that sounds too heavy, try banana- or
coconut-flavoured Mongozo, Lindemans cassis or something tropically fruity from the line-up of Floris brews. Wines start from under a fiver and the drinks list also
embraces the ubiquitous Prosecco, classic cocktails (£8.50) and schnapps. Those imbibing rather than dining can nibble on bar bites including fried whitebait, calamari and mussel popcorn. Are the Belgians too busy inventing cracking beers to conjure up snacks of their own?
