Balans Soho Society

Squaremeal Review of Balans Soho Society ?

The Balans brand’s hallmarks include a cosmopolitan vibe, a please-all menu and an all-day offering (and, in the case of the original Balans in Soho, an incredibly late evening offering too). Drop by for a full English, a mid-morning snack or a casual dinner along the lines of roast chicken with shiitake mushrooms, or Cornish crab linguine – the world is your larder here. If you’ve got room for dessert, you’ll be ordering from the likes of chocolate brownie cheesecake or spiced pumpkin panna cotta. The drinks selection is just as wide-ranging as the food, from Martinis, Margaritas and house mixes, to a clutch of affordable, globe-trotting wines. With its decent prices, relaxed atmosphere and undemanding comfort food, Balans is in possession of a strong formula which is seeing it gradually spread across the capital.

A (lost?) stalwart of gay London

by   (3)

Jan 2016

Balans is where London's gays go for a quick bite or a late drink. The food is always ok, the sesame tuna when on is great, sometimes bad but there is always the Thai Curry. The waiters were flirtatious and the drinks flew liberally. Unfortunately they decided to renovate. No more sexy red and mirrors, it now looks like any suburban shabby chic restaurant opened in the last ten years. I just don't know why they thought they had to renovate unless they wanted to take all the gayness out. Oh...

Balans; worth a visit

by   (3)

Oct 2013

Had a pleasant, okayish meal in Balans yesterday after a visit to the theatre. The set meal was good value, albeit not exceptional and the service was friendly and efficient. The cocktails were the highlight of the evening as they were first class. Not the best place in Soho, but worth a visit.

Cook & Pour :: Balans, Soho - Best Brunch. Fact | Cook & Pour

Balans has been a staple of soho for years. A community of regulars, a must for the open minded tourist, a late night stop for good food when you don’t want a kebab – it is a day and night long mecca of acitivy.

It shows no plans of slowing down or slacking, so following years of not visiting (having moved East), it was good to drop by recently when I was back in the area. They do have one in Stratford, but the original is always the best.

The day was sunny, the mood was hopeful and we wanted something light early afternoon. We were sat next to the open doors which was great for people watching and...

#FatInside :: Balans Soho Society Soho

Balans Soho Society is a caf& with a touch of class in the heart of London. The 24 hour eatery recently undertook a 7 figure renovation has delivered a makeover that has a squatters-chic feel, with a new design and a worn-out feel. The restaurant located on Old Compton Street is deceivingly large - as you walk in the bar is classy and the restaurant extends to a separate area at the back. I was invited by a friend to visit for a free breakfast; naturally I couldn&t decline (even with the early start).
I decided to order something a little different, The High Society Eggs Benedict made with poached eggs, lobster,...
