Always a pleasure
We've now had both dinner and breakfast as Aziz (or Del Aziz) on several occasions. After each visit, we seem to leave even more impressed than the last.
Initially, we had the tasting menu. We were overjoyed by the fabulous serving style, the variety and attention to detail. Serve me a delicious slice of well cooked and seasoned meat and I'll be easily impressed. Yet, at Aziz, I was won over by even the simplest of ancillary additions, like humous or falafel. A real testament to the care and thought that accompanies everything they place in front of you.
They had our attention, so we returned. This time with parents, grandparents and friends-of-the-family. If anything, the larger group size allowed Aziz to wow us further. We've spent a lot more money on meals before (the prices are very reasonable) but rarely had so much fun across a dinner table. They strike the perfect balance between a composed ‘sit-down’ meal, and a more social affair, with an emphasis on sharing some elements of each course. Each diner left with a full belly and a smile.
Returning for breakfast, we found that same care and attention in every element of the meal. They even make their own baked beans. They taste completely different to the tinned sort. A spiced sweetness noticeable in the flavour, which ties the full-english breakfast back to the restaurant's Mediterranean pallet. When was the last time you were impressed by baked beans?
At the risk of offering a blow-by-blow of each following encounter, I'll surmise here: At Aziz, you can be wowed by the tiniest details of your meal. The main dish is always outstanding. The atmosphere and service are top notch. It's ‘posh’ enough that you can make an occasion out of it, yet just casual enough to drop-in. We've never left with anything less than absolute satisfaction.
