10-11 Carlton House Terrace is one of London’s finest Georgian treasures and as well as being home to The British Academy, is also a truly stunning venue for private events. Once the former residence of Prime Minister William Gladstone, this spectacular Grade I-listed townhouse is located in the heart of Westminster overlooking St James’s Park, Whitehall and the Mall, making it an ideal location for smart business events and parties.
The venue is often used as a backdrop for filming period dramas and has played host to hundreds of high-profile events and soirees over the years thanks to its 11 characterful private dining rooms. Each room has its own character and charm, so whether you’re hosting a business event, such as a conference, board meeting, training event or seminar, or a private party, awards dinner or wedding reception, you can be sure of an elegant space for the occasion.
Many of the rooms at Carlton House Terrace are interconnecting, which creates a nice flow for larger events where you might want a reception in one room and a sit-down meal in another. Rooms can be hired for as few as two guests and for as many as 498 for a standing drinks reception, with various configurations and seating arrangements possible.
All the rooms available to hire are listed below, but our favourite has to be The Council Room, with its huge windows, gardenia panelled walls, polished floors and royal guilt-framed period portraits. But then, all the rooms boast period features and grand proportions, so whichever one you choose, you’re sure to be well-pleased.
When it comes to food and drink, you’re in safe hands at 10-11 Carlton House Terrace partners with Searcy’s for its catering provision. There are all sorts of sample menus to whet your appetite, from breakfast to bowl food and canapés, buffets and sharing menus, and cakes and snacks. These menus are not exhaustive though so if you’d like a bespoke menu created for your event, the resident chef will be only to happy to oblige.
